Alexander Zverev has become the third player – after Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer – to reach the finals of the Nitto ATP. It will be held from November 12-19 at the O2 Arena in London. The German was able to get past Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals of the China Open in Beijing. As a result, he has been able to get his first appearance at the prestigious Nitto ATP finals. Zverev required just over an hour in order to get past Rublev in a 6-2, 6-3 victory. He was able to break four times in this game. As a result, he has been able to get a 2-0 lead in the FedEx ATP Head2Head series against Rublev.
The match also witnessed Rublev being under pressure in order to confirm his place in the Emirates ATP Race To Milan, as he is in the second spot. The seven out of the eight players from this event will be taking part in the first edition of the Next Gen ATP Finals. The Emirates ATP Race To Milan is scheduled to take place in Milan from 7th to 11th November.
As a result of his comfortable victory over Rublev, Zverev will be coming up against Nick Kyrgios in the semi-final of the China Open. The Australian was quite dominant with his serves in the quarter-final game, as he managed an incredible 12 aces and dropped to just one of the 17 first-serve points. As a result of this good performance, he was able to get a comfortable win – even with his opponent of retiring after 30 minutes into the game. At that time, Kyrgios was in a substantial 6-0, 3-0 lead. Interestingly, Nick Kyrgios is ahead of Zverev in the FedEx ATP Head2Head series with a 2-1 lead. Their most recent meeting was at the Coupe Rogers back in August.
